An Adaptive Geometry Game for Handheld Devices
نویسنده
چکیده
The development of adaptive learning systems is only in the very beginning. In fact, the concept of adaptive learning systems range from different user interfaces to behaviour adaptive systems as well as from the place and time independent systems to terminal independent systems. When approaching the concept of adaptive learning materials, we must first have conceptual models of the behaviour of different learners within digital environments. The aim of this study was to develop a geometry learning game that adapts to user’s behaviour. The learners in this study were six years old Finnish pre-school pupils. The adaptive system was very limited and the observed behaviour was defined as very simple. However, the software developed achieves good learning results among the tested pupils. The study shows that the learning effect is very promising with this kind of handheld platform and simple adaptation system. This study gives good visions of what can be achieved with more complex behaviour adaptive systems in the field of eLearning.

Authors maintain the copyright. Abstract See-through has been simulated for handheld devices to enable back-of-device interaction and for augmented reality applications. Researchers explored a wide range of applications for such devices and technologies to realize them. In this paper we revise previous work on simulated and real see-through handheld devices and their applications. Based on prev...
متن کاملAn Adaptive Remote Display Framework to Improve Power Efficiency
As computing performance and network technology have evolved, mobile device users can enjoy high quality multimedia more easily. Remote Display the technology which mirrors the screen of one device to another device allows handheld mobile devices to share their screen contents with larger-sized display devices such as TVs. However, there is general concern about high power consumption caused by...

Today, handheld devices in addition to efficiently perform the function for which they were created are also facilitators of all kinds of content through its integrated internet connectivity. The user can access and play multimedia information (pictures, videos, music, podcast, ...), read news, ... and complete educational activities. Regarding the role of learning facilitator, the challenge is...
متن کاملAccelerometer Based Joint Step Detection and Adaptive Step Length Estimation Algorithm Using Handheld Devices
—The pedestrian inertial navigation systems are generally based on Pedestrian Dead Reckoning (PDR) algorithm. Considering the physiological characteristics of pedestrian movement, we use the cyclical characteristics and statistics of acceleration waveform and features which are associated with the walking speed to estimate the stride length. Due to the randomness of the pedestrian hand-held ha...
متن کاملVisual-Geometric Scene Reconstruction from Image Streams
Visual-geometric scene reconstructions capture the visual appearance and geometry of real 3D scenes from image streams. Depending on the type of camera motion and type of scene structure, either 2D od 3D representations can be used. From the representations one can render new views of the scene with high degree of realism. Recently we see a lot of research in this field, especially for the case...
